The Question Block Video Game Pub Quiz 2014-15 Trivia Results, Season Info & Scores (page 12)

Episode 11 – June 30th

Fire Emblem: Fates is actually two separate games, Birthright, and Conquest.

E3 HYPE TRAIN!!

10 teams packed the house in June despite the sizzling heat for a chance to win cash prizes, a brand new Dreamcast VMU, and pride! E3 dominated our Trivia this month.

Have YOU read the instruction manual for this game?

Each of the 10 teams went to bat for our E3 themed trivia game without a single performance enhancing drug (unless you count alcohol) to earn the top spot in our Trivia this month!

After the initial bout of E3 questions, our Player’s Choice round was “Point and Click Adventure Games!” Team Ball Blam Burglebers won the opportunity to pick this round, and they stumped the league; across all teams, the average number of correct answers was a mere 2.6 out of 8!

Our non-video game round this month, Movies Based On Books, was a graphic round.  This round helped everyone nab a few needed points before the half-time round where our Facebook trivia question (courtesy of the Seattle Retro Gaming Expo) earned quick-fingered players 3 free beers along with other random swag.  Top price was a sealed Dreamcast VMU!

Temporary Art

Continuing the E3 theme, our halftime round asked the teams to list as many of the Xbox One backwards compatible games as possible, before using actual audio clips from E3 press conferences to round out the E3 madness in round 4.

Then came the madness! The kind of maddening difficulty that comes from trying to tell one european open world RPG from another.  Trust us, it’s a lot harder than it sounds.  Every single team scored either 2 or 3 out of 8 points.

It was with the round 5 leveling of the field that all teams valiantly fought for their final place in the last round of the evening: Baseball.  Players were shown a snippet of text from the instruction manual or back of the box of a baseball video game, and then had to decide whether to answer the question. Because the final round is the only round in which points are deducted for wrong answers, we actually saw several negative scores.

The evening ended with a nice wrapper, as The Woodmen took first place, and The Woodmen’s Favorite Team (aka Juans of Gamelon) earned the right to choose our next player’s choice round, which is SHMUPS.  We look forward to seeing everyone at July’s game!
