The Question Block Video Game Pub Quiz 2016-17 Season Info & Trivia Scores (page 9)

Episode 08 – April 25th

Business As Usual

Penultimatum

After surviving March’s Juans of Gamelon trivia takeover, our normal league game resumed in April as we do a barrel roll towards the season championships held at SRGE 2017!  This month’s trivia featured 10 plump teams ripe with video game knowledge, all competing to be number one at the Question Block trivia!

The Dr. is In

The 10 teams created a cash prize pool of $50, and our half-time prize pool consisted of a bevvy of kitschy video game swag, and of course free drinks from the bar!

Round 1 challenged teams to answer questions from This Month in Video Games! Daylight Saving has not slowed down The Tonberries, who managed to be the only team to score a perfect round right out of the gate!

Round 2 was our graphic round and our Player’s Choice round, Video Game Memes!  Teams tried to identify the game from the meme displayed.  Many teams did well this round, with several, including The Spoony Bards, getting full points.

Our non-video game round was Needs More Pop Culture.  Bonus points were plenty on this round, with teams earning 1 point for correctly identifying the artist whose album cover was being parodied, and an extra point if they could answer another question about the album.  No, No, No, to Tallyho! performed well in this round, along with The Pinball Quizzards!

Going into the halftime, teams were riding high, including Game…Blouses and Do You Not Get That Reference, who both performed admirably!

Our half-time lightning round using the new format earned many people some great half-time swag and free drinks.  Curious about the new format?  You’ll have to come out to the next game to find out!

WONDER BOY

Round 4, It Was A Dark And Stormy Level, asked teams to identify games from the opening line shown when the game first begins.  Last month’s trivia guest hosts, the Juans of Gamelon, aka VoltJuan: Offenders of the Triviaverse, held their ground strong in this round along with several other teams.

Round 5 was our video round for the month, called Zel-, in which teams had to identify the Legend of Zelda game based on a (sometimes very short) clip!  Only two teams got a perfect score in this round, The Woodmen, and The Lonk Brigade!

Our final round featured Remasters.  Several teams, including Metal Bear Solid, managed 11 points, but only The Tonberries managed to get a perfect score this round.  The Tonberries did exceptionally well throughout the entire game, getting a perfect score in 4 of tonight’s 6 rounds, leading to their victory in this month’s game!  Congratulations to all the teams who played this month’s game, and thanks for coming out and playing!

No, No, No to Tallyho! earned the honor of choosing a round in April’s game.

The Player’s Choice round for May is STILL A MYSTERY!
